Exploring Miami with Kids: A Fun-Filled Guide

During our recent Florida trip, we spent four delightful days in Miami. Despite my initial skepticism, stemming from a less than impressive visit 16 years ago, I found myself asking: “What can we do in Miami with kids?” To my pleasant surprise, Miami had a lot to offer. From beautiful art deco buildings and stunning beaches to delicious food and a relaxed vibe, Miami was a hit. And there’s plenty for kids to enjoy too! So, here’s a list of the best highlights for a family trip to Miami:

Top 6 Activities for Kids in Miami

1. South Beach

Imagine a serene light blue sea, pristine white beaches, and picturesque palm trees. That’s what South Beach in Miami offers. The beach’s lovely white sand and slightly rough surf make it a favorite among visitors. It’s a great place for families, with numerous playgrounds just behind the beach where kids can enjoy slides, swings, and climbing structures.

2. Key Biscayne

Key Biscayne, located within a park, offers a calmer surf compared to South Beach. The park provides ample parking space, even for campers, and offers facilities for barbecuing and cycling. You can rent special bikes that accommodate up to four riders at a time. The park also features fun playgrounds and a small café where you can grab a quick bite or a drink. The beach offers a fantastic view of Miami.

Located in the heart of Miami, the Venetian Pool is a unique attraction. This historic building houses a stunning lagoon where visitors can swim. Dating back to 1924, the pool is entirely made out of coral. Please note that children must be at least 3 years old to enter.

5. Wynwood Walls

Wynwood is a unique part of Miami, known for its raw, urban vibe and the famous Wynwood Walls. This area showcases high-level street art, with warehouses transformed into vibrant pieces of art. It’s a must-visit for art enthusiasts and photographers.

6. Miami Zoo

While I personally prefer observing animals in their natural habitats, kids usually love zoos. So, a visit to Miami Zoo is sure to be a hit with the little ones.
