Top 5 child friendly hotels in Hong Kong

Hongkong is a fantastic city, and not just for a short stop-over on your way to a different destination. It’s perfectly suitable for a city trip too. We spent 8 lovely days there. Hong Kong is an extremely diverse city with skyscrapers, shop till you drop possibilities, historical sights, beautiful nature, lovely food and… Hong Kong is super child friendly. It’s not just the city, where they have many highlights that are loads of fun if you’re travelling with kids, but there are more than enough child friendly hotels in Hong Kong too. To make it as easy as possible for you to choose I’ve made a top 5, in random order, of child friendly hotels in this fantastic city!

Top 5 child friendly hotels in Hong Kong

1# Hyatt Regency Sha Tin

When you’re in need of a bit of peace and relaxation and you’ve gotten a little stuffy from the busy city, the Hyatt Sha Tin is the perfect place for you! It’s located in the New Territories, has a lovely green garden and it’s only a 20 minute drive to both Hong Kong island and the airport, so it’s located nice and centrally. The hotel has loads of facilities and a wide range of rooms. We stayed in a suite with 2 bedrooms, perfect for when you’re travelling with kids. The hotel has multiple restaurants (of which one has won multiple prizes), a fitness area, a kids club, a playground, bike rental, pool, spa and last but not least, a spectacular extensive breakfast INCLUDING pancakes!

After spending a few days in a hotel on Hong Kong Island we really enjoyed relaxing here and we went on a couple of fun trips from here too.

Location: 18 Chak Cheung St, Ma Liu Shui, New Territories

2# Dorsett Wanchai

Another great hotel!! We spent the first couple of days of our journey at the Dorsett Wanchai, located centrally on Hong Kong Island. It’s a hotel with a very own vibe and special sort of establishment. It’s a rather large hotel but feels rather boutique at the same time because of the hip layout. We had a room with two king-sized beds. The room wasn’t enormous but the beds where wonderful, like the establishment. And the view… now that was really breathtaking!! We looked out over the skyline of Hong Kong; skyscrapers as far as the eye could see with an endless array of little lights.

The hotel has loads of child friendly features too; bathrobes and slippers for children in the room, secret sweets hidden away in the drawers of your hotel room, the possibility of bringing a mobile e-book station to the room so you can read a new bed-time story every night. And not to mention a real candy store in the lobby of the hotel.

At just a 10 minute walk you’ll find the subway that takes you to all of the sights in Hong Kong in a jiffy and… across from the hotel is a playground and a skate park.

Location: 387-397 Queen’s Rd E, Wan Chai, Hong Kong Island

3# Grand Hyatt Hong Kong

If you enjoy luxury this 5 star hotel is the right choice! You’ll find the luxury not just in the facilities but in the establishment itself as well, or the high end service level. Aside from the 500 rooms, which come fully equipped, you’ll find multiple restaurants in the Grand Hyatt Hong Kong, a luxury spa, fitness and pool. The pool is located on the 11th floor. There’s a bath where you can swim lanes and a child’s pool. And the view of the city from the pool is phenomenal!

Location: 1 Harbour Road, Hong Kong Island

4# Eaton Hong Kong

Eaton is an innovative hotel. They have a special family room for example. This room consists of a bedroom for parents, a bathroom and a separate bedroom for kids with a bunkbed. To create some extra space during the day the beds are foldable so the kids have all the space they need to play in their room. The hotel also has 3 restaurants and a wellness with a pool, fitness and free Tai Chi Lessons.

Location: 380 Nathan Road, Kowloon

5# Disney Explorers Lodge

Disney in Hong Kong?! Yes!! In Hong Kong you’ll find Disneyland on Lantau Island, a certain must do when you visit Hong Kong with kids. We spent 2 days in the park and slept in one of the resort hotels; Disney Explorer Lodge. This hotel is built recently and is fantastic if your kids are big Disney fans.

The hotel literally just breathes Disney; everywhere you look there are pictures of your favorite Disney characters. There are 3 restaurants of which one is a type of cafeteria. We enjoyed our breakfast and dinner here during our stay. The hotel also has a large pool (which was closed when we were there unfortunate) and a shuttle bus of course that takes you to the park. If you visit Disney I certainly recommend booking one of the resort hotels. It’s truly an extension of the whole Disney experience and the transport to and from the park is arranged very well.

Location: Disneyland Resort, Lantau
