Experiencing the Magic of Disneyland Hong Kong with Kids

Our family city trip to Hong Kong wouldn’t have been complete without a visit to Disneyland Hong Kong. After experiencing the magic in Paris and Orlando, we were excited to see what the Hong Kong park had to offer. Our children, Floris and Lotte, are both huge Disney fans and were eager to meet their “Disney friends” once again. Disneyland Hong Kong, although smaller than its Paris and Orlando counterparts, still offers a day full of adventure and excitement. We decided to take our time exploring the park and stayed for two days. Choosing the best rides for Floris, aged 5, and Lotte, aged 3, was a bit of a challenge. To help other families planning a visit, we’ve compiled a list of our top 10 favorite attractions in Disneyland Hong Kong.

Our Top 10 Disneyland Hong Kong Attractions for Kids

1. It’s a Small World

Without a doubt, “It’s a Small World” was the favorite attraction for both Floris and Lotte. This enchanting boat ride takes you on a journey around the world, showcasing different cultures through charming scenes and characters. From the Dutch in their clogs to Eskimos with fur hats and flamenco dancers in Spain, all singing the catchy “It’s a small world after all…” tune. We enjoyed this ride so much that we went on it twice! Be warned, the tune is so catchy, you might find yourself humming it all the way back home on the plane…

2. Embark on The Many Adventures of Winnie the Pooh

Join the beloved, cuddly bear on an enchanting journey. Hop into a honey jar-shaped cart and delve into the charming world of Winnie the Pooh and his friends. This attraction offers a fast pass at the entrance, allowing you to reserve a ride time and skip the queue. This feature is particularly beneficial when visiting Disneyland Hong Kong with kids.

3. Explore the Fantasy Gardens

Floris and Lotte’s second favorite attraction after “It’s a small world” is the Fantasy Gardens. Here, you can meet all your favorite Disney characters. On their first day, Flo and Lotte snapped photos with Pluto and Piglet. The next day, they met Mickey & Minnie and Winnie the Pooh. You simply join the queue, and when it’s your turn, you can shake hands, share a hug, and take memorable pictures.

4. Hong Kong Disneyland Railroad

Experience the joy of a classic train ride with the Hong Kong Disneyland Railroad. This charming ride stops at two stations: Fantasyland and Main Street. The benches are positioned sideways, providing everyone with a panoramic view of the park and its attractions. Whether you choose to go for a full round or just a short ride, this attraction is sure to be a hit with the kids.

5. Slinky Dog Spin

Bring out the child in you with the Slinky Dog Spin. This fun-filled ride is a favorite among kids and adults alike. Similar to the classic “caterpillar” ride, you hop on and whirl around for a few exhilarating rounds. It’s an attraction that’s sure to bring smiles and laughter to your family’s Disneyland adventure.

6. Rafts to Tarzan’s Treehouse: A Must-Visit Attraction in Hong Kong Disneyland

When visiting Hong Kong Disneyland with kids, the raft and Tarzan’s Treehouse are attractions that should not be missed. This fun-filled adventure begins with a raft ride across the river, leading you to the exciting exploration of Tarzan’s Treehouse. Here’s what you can expect:

  • Play in Tarzan’s house
  • Meet Tarzan’s animal friends
  • Walk over wooden walkways
  • Make music on pots and pans

This interactive experience is sure to keep your kids entertained and engaged, making it a highlight of your Hong Kong Disneyland adventure.

7. The Lion King Theater: A Must-See Attraction in the Wild

Theme parks are typically known for their thrilling rides and attractions, but they also offer spectacular shows that are worth your time. One such show that stands out is the Lion King theater in the wild.

While we usually bypass shows at theme parks, the Lion King was an exception. Given the extra time we had, we decided to give it a shot. And boy, were we blown away! The show was nothing short of spectacular, with stunning costumes, captivating singing and dancing, mesmerizing music, and dazzling lights. Everything came together perfectly to create a truly unforgettable experience.

Without giving too much away, if you ever get the chance to visit Disney, make sure to catch this show. Trust us, you won’t regret it!

8. Experience the Jungle River Cruise

Don’t miss out on the Jungle River Cruise, a must-see attraction! Board a boat steered by a charismatic “captain” who will navigate you through the jungle river. Witness a variety of animals in their natural habitat, including elephants, gorillas, hippos, and giraffes. But beware of the less friendly cannibals! This ride is a hit with kids, although the fire at the end might be a bit thrilling for some.

9. Join the Fun at Mad Hatter Tea Cups

For a whirlwind of fun, try the Mad Hatter Tea Cups. This ride was a top pick for Lotte, and although Kevin and Floris were less enthusiastic, they joined in the fun. The tea cups spin and twirl in every direction, and if that’s not enough, you can control the spin of your own cup. While Lotte was thrilled with the ride, Kevin found it a bit nauseating.

10. Fairy Tale Forest

First on our list is the Fairy Tale Forest. This attraction is a lot of fun and even the smallest of kids will appreciate it! In this enchanting park, you can walk from one fairytale to another. Each fairytale comes with a fun interactive twist. You can turn cranks, triggering delightful surprises.

Enjoy your magical journey in Disneyland Hong Kong!
