Embarking on a Magical Journey: Disney World Orlando

We’re on our way to our next destination on our exciting camper trip through Florida: Disney World Orlando! It’s a 3.5-hour drive from Sanibel Island to Orlando. Quite a ride for the kids, but we’ve prepared everything for the journey; snacks, drinks, and the iPad within reach. The ride goes smoothly, and by late afternoon, we check in at the only camping site of Walt Disney World; Fort Wilderness.

Experiencing the Wonders of Disney World Orlando

This is such an incredible camping site! There’s a fantastic pool with a separate water playground for the little ones, a riding school where you can ride horses and ponies or book a caravan ride, and all sorts of other outdoor activities for the kids. In the evenings, a large campfire is lit where you can roast marshmallows and sing, and Chip ‘n’ Dale might even pay a visit. After the campfire sing-along, a Disney movie is shown outdoors.

But unfortunately, as we arrive, the sky opens up, and it starts pouring rain. So, we decide to have a quick bite to eat and go to bed early.

Exploring Fort Wilderness Like a Real Cowboy

The next day, we don’t have our tickets to the park yet, so we decide to explore the camping site. Turns out there are multiple restaurants, and you can even take a boat to Magic Kingdom. The camping grounds are enormous! They offer a shuttle service, but you can also hire a golf cart for €60 a day to race around the park on your own if you like.

We decide to burn off a bit of holiday fat on a walk. Floris and Lotte are eager to go horseback riding, so we head to the riding school. They both take a ride on a pony. Little Lotte is really brave and looks so proud!

Fun Times with Swimming and Chip ‘n’ Dale

The weather is lovely, so we decide to take a refreshing dip in the pool in the afternoon. For the little ones, there’s a fun child pool with slides and sprinklers.

In the evening, Lotte goes to bed early, and Floris and Kev head to the campfire. They roast marshmallows, eat popcorn, sing along with Chip ‘n’ Dale, and watch part of the movie. When they return to the camper, Flo’s eyes are wide with excitement. Disney is so good at creating unforgettable experiences for children.

Magic Kingdom: A Truly Magical Experience

The next day, it’s finally time… We’re off to Magic Kingdom, the one and only Disney Park in Florida. Because of the heat, it’s not so busy! We arrive early, so we get to see the opening ceremony of Mickey and his friends. The kids are hyped up Disney straight away. We go on lots of rides:

  • Buzz Lightyear’s Space Ranger Spin
  • Monsters Inc. Laugh Factory
  • Pirates of the Caribbean
  • The many adventures of Winnie the Pooh
  • Enchanted Tales with Belle
  • Floris’ favorite, The Magical Carpets of Aladdin

We meet and greet with all kinds of Disney characters and have the time of our lives. What an amazing day!! In the afternoon, we experience a bit of rain, but luckily, I bought ponchos at Walgreens for the kids.

At the end of the day, at 21:00, there’s an incredible fireworks and light show. It’s a sight to behold! You really need to stay for this. All kinds of images are projected on Sleeping Beauty’s castle. Music and fireworks complete the show. It’s an unbelievable sight and the perfect ending to a magical day!

Tomorrow, we have Animal Kingdom and Epcot on our plans, can’t wait!
