Embrace the Change of Seasons with a Tropical Getaway

As the leaves begin to fall and the chill of autumn sets in, it’s undeniable that winter is just around the corner. But don’t let the impending cold weather dampen your spirits. Instead, use it as the perfect excuse to escape to a tropical paradise for a much-needed dose of vitamin D! To help you beat the winter blues, we’ve compiled a list of the top 5 tropical islands for family vacations. So, even when it’s raining and snowing back home, you can still bask in the sun. Without further ado, here are Kids Love Travel’s top 5 tropical islands for a family vacation:

1. Curacao: A Tropical Paradise for Kids

Imagine crystal clear blue waters, white sandy beaches, and swaying palm trees. Picture your little one playing at Jan Thiel beach, while you enjoy a cocktail on your shaded beach bed. Curacao offers several child-friendly beaches and a plethora of activities for kids. They can explore the underwater world in a submarine, help feed ostriches, visit the mystic caves of Hato, or simply enjoy themselves on one of the famous beaches. Curacao is a well-deserved number 1 in our TOP 5 child-friendly Tropical Islands.

Looking for a family-friendly hotel in Curacao? Sunscapes is the place to be! They offer a lovely pool, playground, kids club, and lots of activities for your kids!

2. Bali: A Blend of Beauty and Hospitality

After a 16-hour flight (from Europe), you will land in beautiful Indonesia. Bali, one of the biggest Indonesian Islands, is also the most touristic one. The downside is that you need to search for authentic Bali experiences, but the upside is the availability of excellent medical services. The Indonesian people are incredibly friendly towards kids. Kids are welcomed with open arms, and everyone goes out of their way to make your little ones happy.

Looking for a child-friendly hotel in Bali? Aram Sari Hotel Keliki in Ubud might be the perfect hotel for you! They offer a pool with lots of toys for the kids and (paid) activities for children as well.

3. Cape Verde: A Winter Escape

Even in our cold, snowy winters, Cape Verde is nice and warm with about 25 degrees Celsius and only a six-hour flight away. We will be visiting Sal, one of Cape Verde’s Islands, in February. This is an excellent choice for us as it’s only a short flight away, doesn’t have a significant time difference with the Netherlands, and offers a wonderful temperature in winter. For our stay, we picked an all-inclusive RIU family resort. We aren’t big all-inclusive fans, but the idea of a week of relaxation, with no cleaning or cooking, sounds very tempting, so we’re giving the all-inclusive concept another try.

Discover Family-Friendly Tropical Getaways

Are you in search of the perfect family-friendly hotel in Cabo Verde? Look no further than the Clubhotel Riu Funana. With a plethora of activities for children, including a separate pool and playground, and a popular mini club, your kids will be entertained throughout your stay.

4. Koh Samui: A Tropical Paradise

Located on the east side of Thailand, Koh Samui is a tropical island that offers an unforgettable family holiday. Known for its friendly locals, pristine beaches, warm temperatures, stunning nature, beautifully decorated temples, and delicious food, Koh Samui encapsulates all that Thailand has to offer within its 225 square kilometers.

During our visit in 2015, we spent two weeks at the Peace Resort, a family resort in Bophut, the quieter part of Koh Samui. The resort is incredibly child-friendly, boasting a kids pool filled with toys, an outdoor and indoor playground, high chairs in the restaurant, and baby beds in the rooms. For adults, the resort offers a spa, poolside massages, a gym, beach yoga lessons, and a restaurant serving delectable food. Koh Samui is a must-visit destination in our top 5 tropical islands.

5. Canary Islands: Year-Round Sunshine

The Spanish Canary Islands offer year-round sunshine, making it an ideal destination for a family vacation. With temperatures never reaching extremes, it’s perfect for beach play and enjoying a glass of fruity Spanish wine on a terrace. The Canary Islands consist of seven separate islands: Tenerife, Gran Canaria, Lanzarote, Fuerteventura, La Gomera, El Hierro, and La Palma.

Lanzarote is particularly family-friendly, with resorts offering numerous facilities for both parents and children. The beaches are safe for children, and there’s plenty to do for families, from exploring the National Park Timanfaya and submarine excursions to visiting the zoo or a water park.
